• If we have our own plans, what is the first step?
• We have not finalized our plans, can we still receive an estimate?
• Can HBH help in selecting a plan that fits our requirements?
• Can HBH build on our lot?
• If we do not have a lot, does HBH have available lots?
• Where does HBH build?
• Does HBH build on a cost plus basis?
• During construction, can I visit my home?
• How long will it take to complete construction of our new home?
The first step in the process is to schedule a face to face meeting to discuss your plans and exactly what you are looking for in your custom home. At that time we can pinpoint plan options, timeframes, and budget considerations. This meeting will insure that HBH fully understands what you are looking for in your new home and how we can best meet those requirements. If an initial meeting is not possible we will be happy to start our discussions through email and over the phone. Back to top
We will be happy to provide a preliminary budget estimate based on the information available and preliminary plans. However, to provide a firm quote, final plans are required. Several key items like the foundation design, flooring, appliance choices and other unique features have a direct impact on the final price. Back to top

If the homeowner prefers, we can build on a cost plus basis. However, it is our belief that the homeowner is best served with a traditional turn key bid as it lowers risk for the client and in most cases results in lower prices for the homeowner as the builder is motivated to find the best service at the best price. Yes, we encourage our homeowners to be part of the home building process. Back to top
Every Custom Home is different and will require its own unique timeframe. In general, there are 3 key factors that can effect the duration of construction:
1. The permitting and approvals process which is unique to every area. This can add anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks depending on the complexity and the local codes.
2. Weather is a wild card in the home building process. Eastern North Carolina experiences a mild climate with 4 distinct seasons.
3. The building process is dependent on certain steps being completed before the next step can begin. Flooring, paint, appliances, granite, tile, etc., are examples of choices that must be made in a timely fashion for the house to be completed on time. Back to top
